Big Lottery Fund to help Star Throwers complete long awaited project

Star Throwers are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a £10,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund 'Awards for All' programme.
The funding will be used to resurface the driveway leading to our premises to remove existing potholes and even the driveway. This will enable us to provide a more accessible entrance route to our cancer care centre for patients, volunteers and other members of the community.

The project is due to go ahead in August.

Our thanks to the Big Lottery Fund for supporting our work.

Wymondham Boy to Walk 18 miles in memory of Cousin

10 year old Sonny Clarke from Wymondham will be doing a sponsored 18 miles (!) walk to raise money in memory of his late cousin, Thomas, who sadly passed away last year.

Sonny will be walking with his cousin Ollie and mum Hayley from Wymondham to Notcutts Garden Centre in Norwich, and then back again, on Sunday 15th July. They chose 18 miles because that's the age Thomas was when he passed away.

To support Sonny, please visit his JustGiving page to donate - http://www.justgiving.com/Hayley-Page0

From everyone at Star Throwers, the best of luck Sonny, Ollie and Hayley and we hope the weather holds up for you!

Wymondham Medical Practice staff raise hundreds for Star Throwers in memory of colleague

A charity quiz night was organised by staff at Wymondham Medical Practice, Postmill Close, to raise money for Star Throwers in memory of a colleague who lost her life to cancer this year.

Above: Laura Maddams one of the organisers, second left Dr Henry Manning from Star Throwers, second right Sue Brown one of the organisers and first right Jane Bull who made the cake.

A total of £631 was raised by Laura Maddams and Sue Brown through numerous activities including the quiz, games and estimating the weight of a cake baked by Jane Bull.

Their colleague Beverley Rudrum, 51, passed away on February 8. She joined the medical practice in 1996 and during her illness she frequently visited Star Throwers for support, as well as raising money for Star Throwers by knitting.

The total also comprised of money raised by Nurse Julie Hatton who completed a 100 mile sponsored walk in Scotland and nurse Sarah Phinn who donated proceeds from the sale of jewellery she made.

Our sincerest thanks to Laura, Sue, Jane, Julie, Sarah and all who made donations in memory of Beverley.
