Could you walk 8 miles to work every day?

James Hampson recently visited us at Star Throwers to present a cheque for £500 to Dr. Henry Mannings, after he completed his challenge of walking 8 miles from home to his place of work every day for a week.

Well done James for meeting such a fantastic challenge!

James’ family have also fundraised before for Star Throwers. Last summer, a garden lunch was held in June and Allan Hampson’s garden in aid of Star Throwers which raised over £1000.

Our deepest gratitude goes out to the Hampson family for their continual support.

Great Ellingham & Breckland Flower Clubs raise over £2000

A Christmas flower arranging demonstration was held at Connaught Hall, Attleborough in December. It was a well attended event and raised an incredible total of £2630 for Star Throwers.

Christine Hewson, Ann Norris, Brenda Tubb & Joy Tunmore of the Great Ellingham & District Flower Club and Breckland Flower & Garden Club performed wonderful and entertaining demonstrations on the night in front of a large crowd. This was followed by a tombola and a raffle of which the beautiful flower arrangements made up a significant portion of the prizes.

Star Throwers would like to say a massive thank you to everyone at the Great Ellingham & District Flower Club and Breckland Flower & Garden Club for fundraising such a fantastic amount and for a wonderful evening.

Cleaning up for Star Throwers

We would like to say a massive thank you to Andy Speller from Wymondham, who has donated 10% of his November sales to Star Throwers.

Andy, who has only recently started his car valet services franchise with AutoSheenPCC travels throughout South Norfolk and the Broads providing specialist valeting for cars, boats, motor-homes and caravans.

He said: “I always wanted to work for myself. I worked as a retail manager in supermarkets for the past 25 years but decided I wanted to be my own boss. I thought about opening a shop but the costs today are prohibitive so I started looking for a franchise.”

Andy came to Star Throwers in December to present a cheque to Star Throwers after his first month of trade and talked about his personal experiences with the services Star Throwers offers: "My wife suffered from a cancer a few years ago. She came here and found it a big help. Star Throwers is self-funded, so every little helps".

Thank you again Andy, for such a generous gesture - we all wish you luck with your new business.

The Lively Crew ‘Light for Life’ events are a success

A series of events held across Norfolk whereby people light a candle in memory of somebody touched by cancer raised over £1100 for Star Throwers.

The Lively Crew, who have supported Star Throwers as their Charity of the Year since 2010, organised eight ‘Light for Life’ events in total over a period of five weeks, raising an amazing total of £1121.

The events were held at six different locations spanning from Wymondham to Norwich to Bury St Edmunds. Members of the public made a small donation for a candle light to be lit and placed on the Star Throwers logo in memory of someone they knew affected by cancer.

Star Throwers are deeply grateful and thankful for the continued support from The Lively Crew, not just for their fundraising efforts but also for their staff time, money and marketing expertise. Special thanks also goes out to Tina Wilkins and Jo Hilton for helping with the events.

Kettle Foods continues to support Star Throwers

Star Throwers would like to thank Kettle Foods for supporting Star Throwers through their staff community support scheme ‘Kettle Cares’.

A cheque for £215 was presented to Star Throwers and this donation allows Star Throwers to purchase and use an oxygen tank at the Wymondham centre for 2 years.

In April 2010 Kettle Foods also generously donated £100 to Star Throwers, so that some garden furniture could be purchased.

Our deepest thanks again to Kettle Foods for their continued support.
